Bio

Dr Alan Henderson leads the engineering component of the research. His research interests are in applied fluid mechanics and he collaborates with industry in the manufacturing, aquaculture, aerospace and renewable energy sectors. Some of his collaborative research efforts include examining the performance of hydropower schemes through mitigation of biofouling effects in open channels, pipes and penstocks; and developing the ability to rapidly start hydropower turbines to meet sudden load changes. His extensive experience in fluid hydrodynamics and the prior Hub will be critical to the development of onshore lobster culture systems.
